Soya oil tariff value raised

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Sept 2

The Centre has further hiked the tariff value on crude soyabean oil from $572 to $579 per tonne. This is the fourth such increase in the tariff value - the notional price on which import duty is levied by the Customs authorities - esorted to by the Finance Ministry during the current quarter quarter.

The latest increase would raise the total duty liability on the imported product by around Rs 165 a tonne. The tariff values on other edible oils have, however, been left unchanged at $447 for crude palm oil, $476 for refined, bleached and de-odorised (RBD) palm oil, $462 for `other palm oil', $481 for crude palmolein, $484 for RBD palmolein and $483 for `other palmolein".

The tariff value on brass scrap (all grades) has been raised from $4,346 to $4,456 a tonne.
