Life Insurance States - Kerala Ernakulam LIC division tops in South Our Bureau
Kochi , Sept. 3 The LIC Ernakulam division has become the only division in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to have crossed one lakh policies as on Aug 15, 2006. The sales of new policies stood at 1,02,203. The growth rate of the division in first premium (single) is 344 per cent, with a collection of 280.43 crore. Though the target for the current year is 5.64 lakh policies, it is poised to cross six lakh during the current fiscal, an official release here said. Business through Bancassurance and Alternate channels has registered a growth rate of 356 per cent in first premium while it has achieved top spot in sale of `Jeevan Tarang', a unique whole of life plan. Besides, Pension and Group Schemes Unit of the division surpassed the first premium budget (2006-07) of Rs 32 crore by June 15 last and with this it has become the first such unit in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and second in the country on that date. Also it is the first in the zone to achieve social security scheme budget. The total premium collected as on July 31 stood at Rs 632 crore and the total surplus generated was Rs 395.71 crore.
