Spot rubber rule steady

The physical rubber prices were quoted steady on Monday. The market activities were in an extremely low key as most of the dealers kept the shutters down in a holiday mood.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 stayed static at Rs 87 and Rs 86.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi as on Saturday. The spot market will remain closed on Tuesday on account of Onam.

Futures decline

The rubber futures declined on NMCE ridden by another sharp decline in TOCOM and other overseas markets. The September contract was quoted at Rs 88.25 (Rs 89.64), October at Rs 84.29 (Rs 86.07), November at Rs 84.01 (Rs 86.24) and December at Rs 84.75 (Rs 86.56) per kg for RSS 4.

Spot rates (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 87 (Rs 87.00); RSS-5: Rs 85 (Rs 85); ungraded: Rs 83 (Rs 83); ISNR 20: Rs 85 (Rs 85) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 70 (Rs 70).
