Farm credit Industry & Economy - Natural Calamities States - Andhra Pradesh Special credit plan for flood-hit in AP Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Sept. 4 The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has released a special credit plan with an outlay of Rs 606.14 crore for the flood-hit districts. According to Andhra Bank, the convenor of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), the special credit plan is to be implemented in 10 flood-affected districts of the State that were severely damaged during the first week of August. The districts are Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad. The Andhra Bank Chairman and Managing Director, Dr K. Ramakrishnan, who is also the SLBC President, apprised the Chief Minister of the steps being taken by the banks in implementing the relief operations. The banks in the State were advised to identify the flood victims immediately and provide consumption loans. According to the bank's release, credit campaigns have to be conducted and consumption loans sanctioned may be distributed before September 15. All the existing crop loans were to be converted into term loans before September 20, while sanctioning fresh crop loans to farmers to take up alternative crops.
