Hyderabad vying to host travel meet

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 5

Hyderabad is vying with Delhi to host the next edition of PATA (Pacific-Asian Travel Association) meet scheduled to be held in 2008. Encouraged by the huge success of TAAI's annual convention held here last week, the travel industry feels that Hyderabad could emerge as a hot favourite for holding the global event.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr C.V. Prasad, the newly elected President of TAAI, felt that the city had a fair chance of clinching the event. The three-day event, which is expected to generate revenues to the tune of $3 billion, would attract over 15,000 tourism professionals from across the globe. Mr Rajinder Rai of New Delhi has been elected Vice-President of TAAI at the annual general meeting held after the convention.
