Airlines Kingfisher Air raises fuel surcharge Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 6 Kingfisher Airlines joined other airlines in imposing an additional fuel surcharge to beat spiralling ATF prices. Mr Vijay Mallya, Chairman of Kingfisher Airlines, said the company had increased the fuel surcharge from Rs 650 to Rs 750. Talking to presspersons, he said the company did not have any plans at the moment for private equity placement. "Financially we are comfortable," he said.
Delivery schedule
Asked whether delay in Airbus's A380 programme would affect Kingfisher's delivery schedules, he replied in the negative. "Delivery of our A380s will commence only in 2010, so we do not expect any delay in our delivery schedules," he explained. On delivery of the superior A350, he said Airbus has given the company a "good deal" that would compensate for any possible delay. The A350s are scheduled for delivery by 2012.
Fleet expansion
As part of its fleet expansion programme, the airline will be receiving two A321s in the next two months.
Kingfisher sponsors tennis
Six leading tennis players, including Spaniard Tommy Robredo, will be entering the $ 380,000 Kingfisher Airlines Mumbai Tennis Open to be held at Cricket Club of India between September 25 and October 1. The winner of the ATP event, being held for the first time in Mumbai and sponsored for the next three years by Kingfisher Airlines, would get $ 54,000, according to tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi. His firm, Globosport, is organising the event.
