VSP starts expansion work

Visakhapatnam , Sept. 6

The expansion project of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant began here on Wednesday with Mr Y. Sivasagara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of the plant, inaugurating the site levelling work for the rolling mill.

The capacity of the plant, currently 3 million tonnes, would be expanded to 6.2 million tonnes at a cost of Rs 8,600 crore.

Four rolling mills would be set up in a total area of 10.63 lakh square metres. The work will be completed in four months. Then the work by other agencies will begin, adds a press release issued by the plant.
