Chennai , Sept. 6 Medopharm Pvt Ltd has launched an antibiotic, Cledomox, from its new facility near Chennai built exclusively for beta-lactam products. At a press conference to announce the commercial launch, Mr Gambhir Chordia, Director - Marketing, Medopharm, said that Cledomox is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. It is the first of the beta-lactam products to come from the Rs 25-crore facility. More are in the pipeline, he said. Cledomox can tackle a range of infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis, urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue infections. The product will be marketed both in the domestic and international markets, he said. Medopharm's range includes over 300 formulations. It has manufacturing facilities near Bangalore and Hyderabad. Its sales in 2005-06 were about Rs 150 crore, three-fourths of which were from exports. Mr Chordia expected that sales would go up to Rs 200 crore this year. The growth will be from the additional products from its new facility near Chennai and the sales growth of its existing product line. Its exports are to over 60 countries including those in Europe, South East Asia and Africa.
