Airlines Government - Security
Our Bureau
New Delhi , Sept. 6 The British Government has said that it has no concerns about aviation security and terrorism with regard to operations of Jet Airways to the UK. A letter written by the British High Commissioner to India, Sir Michael Arthur, to the Minister for Civil Aviation states that the airline remains welcome to fly to the UK. "I have checked this out with responsible authorities in London and can confirm that there are no such concerns (about aviation security and terrorism) with regard to Jet Airways, who remain welcome to fly to the UK," the High Commissioner has said. The High Commissioner's letter comes in the wake of reports that the British Government was concerned about aviation security and terrorism in view of the arrest of an airline employee in London in connection with the foiled bid to blow up the US bound aircraft. The employee was later released by the British authorities. "Indeed we have always found them to be a co-operative airline partners and Jet has met the security measures we require," the letter from the High Commissioner adds. Official sources indicated that the letter was written suo-motto by the British High Commissioner and there was no request from India for such a communication. The airline operates regular flights to the UK including a daily service from Delhi and twice a day flight from Mumbai.
