Non-Performing Assets Agri-Biz & Commodities - Commodity Exchanges Crisil launches agri risk monitor Our Bureau
A risk profiling of crops would be done on an annual basis, said Dr Subir V. Gokarn, Executive Director and Chief Economist, Crisil Ltd. "On a weekly or a monthly basis, the agri risk monitor would track the impact of rainfall on crops," he said. The rainfall risk will assess chances of loan recovery based on the rainfall risk index for crops and advise farmers on the probability of a good harvest. The risk monitor would cover 15 States and 30 crops. The analysis would be done on a state-crop combination, for example, "Cotton in Orissa" or "Coffee in Kerala". Crisil would be rating the risk profile of a crop on the scale of 0-100; the higher the number the more risky the crop.
