New Delhi, Sept. 7

The Union Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for signing the trilateral agreement among India, Brazil and South Africa concerning merchant shipping and other maritime transport related matters and ratification. Promoting direct shipping links between India, South Africa and Brazil is important from India's trade point of view.

The proposed trilateral agreement would improve the shipping links among the countries. It will further strengthen the relations and cooperation amongst the three countries, said an official release. The first IBSA Summit will be held in Brasilia on September 13.

The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will participate in the Summit. The IBSA Trilateral Agreement is scheduled for signature during this Summit, it added.
