The State is looking to develop itself into an international hub of marine tourism activity in future by planning projects such as cruise infrastructure and a marina for international vessels at its minor port.
Currently, the Government is awaiting business plan from Star Cruises, a global cruise operating company, for its proposed plans of setting up a cruise terminal of international standards near Aguada-Sinquerim in north Goa.
BOT basis
The Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsingh Rane, has said that Star Cruises was chosen out of the three bidders that had responded to the State's global notice of expression of interest (EoI) issued for setting up cruise infrastructure on a BOT basis.
"They have submitted to us an environmental impact assessment study report done through the National Institute of Oceanography, now they have to give us the full plan," Mr Rane said.
Negotiators
The Government has appointed Ferguson & Co as financial consultants to negotiate details of revenue sharing and other financial matters while legal matters would be discussed with the law firm, Mulla & Mulla, the Chief Minister said.
