Second HP facility for Fortune clients

Hewlett Packard (HP), the $90 billion IT major, launched its second facility in Chennai for its global delivery operations.

The 300,000 lakh sq ft facility at the Olympia Technology Park can accommodate about 3,000 people, said Mr Som Mittal, President and CEO, HP Globalsoft and Worldwide Head, Application Services Delivery Organisation, HP.

HP would employ about 5,000 in the next two years in Chennai. It now employs around 2,000 people at the business process outsourcing unit in the city. Across India, HP currently has about 25,000 people, a 30 per cent growth in number over last year, he told newspersons on the sidelines of Connect 2006, this year's ICT event of Tamil Nadu.

The new facility was e-launched by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr M. Karunanidhi, at Connect 2006.
