Bangalore , Sept. 8

Former ISRO Chairman, Dr K Kasturirangan, on Friday said that Bangalore's growth as a hi-tech city should not overshadow the growth of Tier II cities in the State, such as Mangalore, Hubli, Dharwar and Mysore. Addressing the annual convention of the Bangalore Management Association, the Rajya Sabha member said that companies could include these cities in their expansion plans if more expressways, air connectivity and higher bandwidth connections are made available.

"IT and biotech have placed us on the global map and there are other sectors too such as textiles and agro processing that could have global brands," he said. Mr A.K. Saxena, Managing Director, Bangalore Complex of HAL, said both the public and private sector together have placed the state on the globalisation track.
