Andhra Bank officers list woes

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 10

Expressing concern over increasing work pressure, officers of Andhra Bank have called for immediate recruitment in the bank across all the cadres.

Addressing the inaugural of the eighth All-India Andhra Bank Officers' Federation on Sunday, Mr K. Ramakoteswara Rao, General Secretary, said that the officers had been working under severe work pressures due to indefinite delays in completing end-of-day obligations. Listing the problems faced by the staff, he urged the management to ensure that there is no work on Sundays and holidays.

Assuring the management of full support in achieving the Rs 1 lakh crore business target, he said it was very important to recruit sizeable number to share the burden. Over 1,500 delegates attended the conference. Mr B.S.R. Mohan Reddy, a senior union leader, highlighted the problem of shortage of human resources. He added that the bank should take a practical view while resorting to punishing officials.

Mr K. Ramakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director, said that the banks were working a highly competitive environment, with interest rates narrowing and operating costs going up. These resulted in a severe pressure on the margins.
