CII scheme for auto drivers

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Sept. 10

The Confederation of Indian Industry, Madurai Zone, organised a one-day training programme `Be A Friend' for auto drivers, taxi drivers and tourist guides.

The programme was aimed at improving their communication skills, body language skills, tips on interaction with local and foreign tourists, knowledge of touristic importance of Madurai and first aid, as part of its efforts in sensitising the stakeholders in the promotion of heritage tourism.

The event was held at the Apollo Speciality Hospitals here on Saturday.

Stressing the importance of fixing meters in the autos, the local MP, Mr P. Mohan, in his keynote address urged the Government to invite all the associations and discuss their problems and improve their image among the people. He assured to extend the use of local area MP Fund for providing auto stands wherever necessary. The City Commissioner of Police, Mr M. Chidambarasamy, appreciating the message `Free auto for delivery of child' displayed by a few autos in the city, urged the participants to develop a sense of self-respect and become a part of the noble exercise as a stakeholder.
