Hind Latex awarded `mini ratna'

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 11

Hindustan Latex Ltd, a Central Enterprise under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been conferred the `mini ratna' status. This was done after evaluating the company's performance over the past few years in the area of profitability and was also based on the positive net worth of over Rs 90 crore, a spokesman said here. The company has neither depended on budgetary support nor availed any guarantees from the Government of India. It was recently raised to the Schedule `B' category. The `mini ratna' status empowers it to invest up to Rs 250 crore in various projects without Government approval. It also grants enhanced financial and operational powers. Over the past few years, HLL has maintained consistently high profit and performance levels.
