Bangalore , Sept. 11 Global HR staffing and consultancy firm Adecco is looking at an inorganic growth through tier-II cities in the country. Currently, Adecco Peopleone has 36 offices in India and plans to establish offices in 15-20 more cities in the next two years, Mr Sudhakar Balakrishnan, Director and COO, Adecco, said.Adecco is also working on a brand transition exercise to phase out the Peopleone name, a company through which it had entered the Indian market in 2004 by acquiring a 67 per cent stake. "The stakes have changed now and Adecco owns almost the whole company," Mr Balakrishnan said. Adecco India, which posted a turnover of Rs 354 crore this year, operates both in the temp and permanent placement segments in the country. Currently, it has about 25,000 associates working for various clients across sectors. While most of these temp employees belong to 0-3 years' experience category, about 3-4 per cent are performing high-end jobs like consulting, according to Mr Dieter Christian Scheiff, Chief Executive Officer, Adecco Group. "While globally about 20 per cent of our staff are specialists," he added. The Indian temping market currently has a handful of staffing companies that employ about 150,000 people. "This is just about 2.5 per cent of the organised employment market. Therefore the potential is huge," Mr Balakrishnan said. Commenting on the acceptability of the temping concept, Mr Balakrishnan said that sectors such as retail, telecom, manufacturing and banking have been more welcoming, while BPOs have been slow as global clients insist on a `certain percentage of employees' being permanent staff, Mr Balakrishnan said.
