New Delhi, Sept. 11

Grasim Industries Ltd (GIL) is investing Rs 75 crore at its Bhiwani plant for modernisation, technological up-gradation and design development. "Part of the investment has already been made. We are also increasing the capacity from 15 million metres to 18 million metres of fabric annually. The entire exercise will be completed by January next year," said Mr S. Krishnamoorthy, President, Textile Division, GIL, on Monday.

The company is currently outsourcing the manufacturing up to 15 per cent of its domestic sales from counties such as China, Korea and Italy. "At present we are outsourcing 100,000 metes per day of polyester viscose, polyester linen and other fabrics from these countries," said Mr Krishnamoorthy. GIL on Monday launched its `Look of the Season' range of fabrics. The collection comprises five fabric offerings. It has been designed on the basis of an R&D exercise and consumer insights, according to the company. The company clocked a turnover of Rs 225 crore last year and is targeting 15-20 per cent growth this fiscal.
