Mumbai, Sept. 12

Patel Engineering Ltd has acquired a controlling stake in the Mumbai-based Michigan Engineers Pvt Ltd (MEPL) for an undisclosed sum. MEPL is an urban infrastructure company; its specialities include underground works and foundations, atypical dredging, bridges, specialised sewer rehabilitation works and other heavy civil works, said a statement from Patel Engineering.

Patel Enginnering with its speciality in micro-tunnelling will find in MEPL a platform to leverage the joint skills of the two companies and bid for urban infrastructure and sewerage projects, said Mr Rupen Patel, its Managing Director. The company can focus on the explosive growth in urban infrastructure in both metro and tier-II cities, he said.
