Mumbai, Sept. 13

On Wednesday, the rupee gained against the dollar on talks of FII inflows into the domestic markets. It opened at 46.28, touched an intra-day high of 46.16 to end at 46.18. On Tuesday, the rupee had closed at 46.27/28.

"There was also a good amount of selling by exporters," said a dealer at a private bank. The greenback was quiet against the overseas currencies and strengthened slightly against the yen.

Some dealers are betting on the rupee touching 46.05. The market expects the G-7 meeting during the week to impact the movement of rupee against the dollar. In forwards, the six-month premium ended at 1.37 per cent (1.43 per cent) and the 12-month premium at 1.36 per cent (1.39 per cent).
