Security RSA Security to set up development centre Preethi. J
Bangalore , Sept. 14 RSA Security will be setting up a development centre in the city by end of this year. Mr Niranjan Maka, who has worked for Tata Consultancy Services, ITC and Siebel Systems in various engineering and management positions, has been appointed to head the centre. "The development centre will work on next generation authentication, and federated identity management. This research is currently being done at the US and will be transferred here once the centre is set up," said Mr Arthur Coviello, President and CEO, RSA security, speaking to Business Line on his recent visit to the city. The centre will function as an independent software development centre, sharing tools and best practices with RSA Security's other facilities while managing the total life-cycle of its own key product portfolios. The centre will have full ownership of its products developed, said Mr Coviello. The company already had a seven-year arrangement with HCL Technologies in Bangalore. The upcoming captive centre will be an add-on to this and not a replacement, he affirmed. A team of 140-odd engineers at HCL is working on web access management, user credential applications and digital certificates for the security firm. RSA also has a pact with Mphasis in the city to develop dynamic, time-synchronous tags for consumers. This end-user application would be useful in authentication of online transactions.
