Courts/Legal Issues States - Andhra Pradesh Nalsar team wins moot court contest Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Sept. 14 A three-member team from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (Nalsar) here has emerged champions at the South India rounds of the 2006 Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition. The competition was organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai, in collaboration with Symbiosis Society's Law College, Pune, between September 8 and 10, according to a press release from Nalsar. The winning team comprised Mr Dhruv Arora, Mr Manish Aggarwal and Ms Diya Bose from the fourth year Class. The team defeated National Law School, Bangalore, in the finals. It will represent India at the International Qualifying Rounds to be held at Stetson's Tampa Law Centre, from November 8-9. The finals will be held on Stetson's main law campus at Gulfport/St. Petersburg, from November 10-11. The moot problem covered a variety of issues, ranging from climate change and global warming, to free trade agreements and environmental trade measures in the present day context. The competition provides an opportunity for law students to explore issues in international law, in the context of disputes before the International Court of Justice. In addition to being adjudged the best team, they also bagged individual prizes, with Mr Manish Aggarwal winning Best Speaker for the Finals and the second Best Student Advocate overall.
