RBI panel on financial sector assessment

Mumbai , Sept. 14

Reserve Bank of India on Thursday announced the constitution of a `committee on financial sector assessment.'

Dr Rakesh Mohan, Deputy Governor, RBI will be the chairman of the committee and Mr Ashok Jha, Secretary (Economic Affairs) the co-chairman, said a press release by RBI.

Dr Ashok Lahiri, Chief Economic Adviser and Mr Madhusudan Prasad, Joint Secretary (Fund Bank), Government of India will be its members. The Secretariat will be provided by the RBI.

The committee will identify and implement the techniques for financial sector assessment. It will also analyse specific development and stability issues.

The Committee will review its own status and report the progress to the Government of India or Reserve Bank of India in six months.
