Spot rubber prices improve

Aravindan

Kottayam , Sept. 14

Domestic spot rubber prices improved on Thursday. The gains were catalysed by the sustained recovery in international indices especially the sharp bounce back in TOCOM. Covering groups turned active once again at lower levels, while sellers stayed back observing the bullish signals from the global scene.

Sheet rubber improved to Rs 82.50 a kg from Rs 82 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi. The buying from the non-tyre sector was also moderate in all main marketing centres.

Futures gain

The rubber futures improved further except for its delivery month September, which was quoted weak at Rs 83.50 (Rs 84.11) a kg on NMCE. The near month October contract was traded at Rs 80.48 (Rs 78.40), November at Rs 79.50 (Rs 77.68) and December at Rs 79.45 (Rs 78.35) per kg for RSS 4.

Spot rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 82.50 (Rs 82.00); RSS-5: Rs 79.00 (Rs 78.00); Ungraded: Rs 76.50 (Rs 76.00); ISNR 20: Rs 78.50 (Rs 78.00) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 66.30 (Rs 66.30).
