Spot rubber rules weak

Aravindan

Kottayam , Sept. 15

Spot rubber weakened on Friday. The domestic market failed to hold Thursday's gains as trend setting TOCOM closed slightly lower in all its contracts. This was followed by a weakness in gold and oil products futures globally.

RSS 4 fell back to Rs 82.00 a kg from Rs 82.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi. According to sources the market lacked the follow up support from major manufactures. The volumes were low.

Futures mixed

The rubber futures showed a mixed trend on NMCE. The September delivery was quoted at Rs 82.50 (Rs 85), October at Rs 79.75 (Rs 80), November at Rs 78.60 (Rs 78.55) and December at Rs 79.50 (Rs 79.39) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 82 (Rs 82.50); RSS-5: Rs 78.50 (Rs 79); ungraded: Rs 76.25 (Rs 76.50); ISNR 20: Rs 78 (Rs 78.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 66.30 (Rs 66.30).
