Bangalore, Sept. 16

Diagnostics major Dr Lal PathLabs (LPL) on Saturday opened its first diagnostic centre in Bangalore. The centre will be on Dr Lal's national pathology grid of 20 labs in over 400 cities. Dr Arvind Lal, CMD of Lal PathLabs Pvt Ltd, said the aim was to provide seamless service on the hub-and-spoke network. The Lal network caters to around 1.5 million patients a year. In the next two years, the company expects to have 51 labs, double the collection centres to 1,000 and complete its modern and large lab in Delhi by 2007. LPL, with a 57-year-old service, claims to be the first Indian lab to offer completely hands-off testing where patients can access reports at the click of a mouse.
