Union Bank introduces loan product

Mumbai, Sept. 17

Union Bank of India has introduced a loan product for tenant farmers, sharecroppers and landless labourers, called the `Union Bhumiheen Green Card'. All rural branches of the bank will issue the card.

The advance will be by way of working capital or production credit for raising crops and term loans for acquiring assets such as cattle, said a press release from the bank. The scheme will help not only individual farmers, but also group of borrowers including joint liability groups and self help groups.

With the launching of this card, the Bank will increase its customer base, the release said.
