Ranbaxy, Ethypharm in pact

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Sept. 18

Drug-delivery company Ethypharm India has formalised an out-licensing deal and supply agreement with Ranbaxy for fixed-dose combination of Fenofibrate micronised 160 mg and Atorvastatin 10 mg. Ethypharm is a subsidiary of French company Ethypharm S.A. and the deal with Ranbaxy on the cholestrol drug is for the Indian market, a note from Ethypharm said. The agreement comes close after a similar deal that Ethypharm had signed in May with Ranbaxy for out-licensing and supply of painkiller drug Tramadol Flashtab.

The products will be supplied from Ethypharm's manufacturing facility near Mumbai as finished and packaged formulations and marketed and distributed by Ranbaxy under their brand name Storfib. Fenofibrate is a drug prescribed to lower triglycerides in cases of Hyperlipidemia while Atorvastatin is a drug widely used to manage cholesterol levels, the note said.
