Rubber Spot rubber stays unchanged Aravindan
Kottayam , Sept. 19 Spot rubber closed almost steady on Tuesday. Though the international reports were discouraging, the market sustained at the existing levels due to low supply. RSS 4 closed static at Rs 83 and Rs 82.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. According to sources the prices may soften further if the current weakness persists at the global level.
Futures slip
Rubber futures declined on NMCE. The market opened better but a late crash in TOCOM futures hammered the prices towards mid session. The October contract was quoted at Rs 79.50 (Rs 80.76), November at Rs 78.24 (Rs 79.85), December at Rs 78.49 (Rs 80.27) and January at Rs 80.62 (Rs 81.50) per kg for RSS 4. The trading volumes till noon were better at 898 tonnes with 587 tonnes in October, 109 tonnes in November and 156 tonnes in December and 46 tonnes in January. The October futures for RSS 3 declined sharply to 216.4 yen (Rs 84.75) from 226.4 yen a kg at TOCOM. But the grade improved to Rs 89.03 from Rs 87.39 a kg at Bangkok spot. Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 83 (Rs 83); RSS-5: Rs 80 (Rs 80); ungraded: Rs 77.75 (Rs 77.75); ISNR 20: Rs 79.50 (Rs 79.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 62.10 (Rs 63.15).
