Power crisis hurting AP industries, says AIMO

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 19

The All India Manufacturers' Organisation (AIMO) has said that the recent power crisis is hurting the industry. There is a tremendous pressure on the power sector.

Even if the industry wants to generate power for captive use, it could not do that. "There are restrictions in doing that. We need to prove that the industry concerned will not sell the power it generated," Mr Y.S.R. Venkat Rao, Chairman of AIMO (Andhra Pradesh Board) and Managing Director of International Industrial Products, said.

The organisation was founded by late Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday to announce the annual awards presented by the organisation, he said entrepreneurs were supposed to focus on their core business activity.

"They cannot go on explaining to a number of people. It is very frustrating, particularly for those in the small and medium sector," he said.

Stating that information technology too belonged to the manufacturing sector, he said the advent of IT had resulted in increase in salaries in the market place. It had become very difficult for us to get human resources.
