Ahmedabad , Sept. 19

LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd (LGEIL) on Tuesday announced the expansion of its Flat Panel Display portfolio with the launch of 11 new models of plasma display panels, saying it selected Gujarat with a 50 per cent market share to be the growth engine of its India business for the next two to three years.

The price range for the LCD and Plasma TVs launched is between Rs 30,000 and Rs 1.25 lakh, said Mr Prashant K. Das, Product Group Head of the company.

He told a press conference here that as part of its media blitz and big outdoor visibility before the Diwali sales season, the LG Group is spending Rs 4 crore in the western region, including Gujarat. The drive would then be extended to other 15 cities across India.

The company's Regional Manager, Mr Maulesh Chhaya, said the company expected sales worth Rs 150 crore in the current year in the western region.

LGEIL, a wholly owned subsidiary of LG Electronics, South Korea, was set up in India in January 1997, and has since emerged as a leading consumer electronic, home appliances and mobile handset company.

The company, having manufacturing units at Greater Noida and Pune, had a turnover of Rs 7,500 crore in 2005.
