Mr Lalu Prasad has done it again. He has done what no other politician has — conduct a session at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. More politicians will now want to be seen in the company of management graduates.

And why not, as this will provide an essential contact between a key segment and the politicians. Cheers to Mr Lalu.

This is with reference to "Lalu `express' in full steam" (Business Line, September 13): It goes without saying that when it comes to making profit it takes common sense and not theories from management books. Mr Lalu Prasad has been very successful in turning around the Railways' revenues.

Mr Lalu Prasad should also identify new areas for achieving efficiency and saving cost.

Train delays have also become a thing of the past.

There are lot of rail routes where distance is far greater than roads.

Railways must consider laying new lines to reduce the overall costs.

It could consider permitting private operators to run express or cargo trains on its lines and earn maximum revenue.
