Hyderabad , Sept. 20 Sanyo Electronic Company Ltd has set its eyes on garnering a business of at least $100 million by exploiting opportunities in commercial electronics in the country in the next three years. According to the Sanyo BPL Chief Operating Officer, Mr Keiji Oshima, the company finds large market emerging from the growing infrastructure projects, expansion of major retail malls, multiplexes and private airports across the country. Addressing newspersons here on Wednesday, he said the commercial electronics space now offers major opportunities in refrigeration, air-conditioning, digital cinema screens, closed-circuit televisions and LCD projectors, among others. "We do not have any plans to set up our manufacturing facility for these products here right now," Mr Oshima said responding to a query. The $24-billion Japanese electronics giant, which is now generating close to 50 per cent of its revenues from outside Japan, has set a target of mopping up at least 10 per cent of its overseas sales from the Indian market in the next few years, Mr Oshima said.
New slim TV models
Unveiling two slim TV models of Sanyo BPL here, he said, "We aim to be market leaders in the slim TV category by the end of this financial year with eight models totally." With the latest launch, the total slim TV models of the company in India now have reached six. The company has two more TV models in the pipeline, he said.
Market share
According to the Sanyo BPL Vice-President, Marketing, Mr V.G. Rajagopalan, the company has already achieved close to 5.5 per cent market share in the colour TV segment and expects to reach 7 per cent share during the upcoming festival season.
