"Be a professional, speak out, know when to say `No' and learn the principles of economics," was the advice from Mr Ajmal Khan, Vice-President, IBS Software, Kochi, to the students of the Department of Computer Applications during Cybercrest'06, a national-level technical symposium, organised by the Computer Application Association, BSA Crescent Engineering College, under the aegis of the Business Line Club.

He said that a professional should know his capabilities and limitations and he or she should learn more. Emphasising the importance of "speaking out", he pointed out that one needs to participate in the deliberations and discussions and let others know their ideas. "One should remember that the first thought is the best thought and one can always add value."

`Yes' is a good answer, but not all the time. One should know when to say `No', Mr Khan said.

Highlighting the potential of the air transport industry, he said that it is the only transportation medium that connects the whole world; 200 crore people travel by air annually; it offers 3 crore jobs globally; 900 airlines are operating all over the world; 22,000 airplanes flying in the sky; India has 220 aircraft, whereas neighbouring China has 850 aircraft.

Mr Parthasarthy Khothandam, Project Manager, Wipro, Chennai, spoke on "ERP" while the Principal, Dr V.M. Periasamy, presided. Others present were Dr T.R. Rangaswamy, Dean (Academic), Dr P. Sheik Abdul Khader, HoD of Computer Application Department and President of the Computer Application Association.
