Mumbai , Sept. 21

Despite rising cotton output (245 lakh bales) and cottonseed production (81.6 lakh tonnes) in 2005-06, export of cottonseed extraction from the country was rather limited.

According to all India Cottonseed Crushers Association, 5,530 tonnes of cottonseed extractions were shipped out last fiscal. Cotton linters exports were an estimated 655 tonnes, showing an increase from the previous year.

Addressing the members of the association here, Mr. Sandeep Bajoria said cotton production prospects in 2006-07 looked promising and would be around 260-275 lakh bales.

The prices of scientifically processed cottonseed extraction were quoted lower than cottonseed cake produced through traditional means, Mr. Bajoria regretted.
