Rubber Sheet rubber slips to Rs 80/kg Aravindan
Kottayam , Sept. 21 The physical rubber prices continued to rule weak on Thursday. The trend was mixed, as certain grades were steady and comparatively inactive during a session with dull volumes. Sheet rubber RSS 4 moved down to Rs 80 a kg from Rs 81 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi. A sharp decline in Bangkok spot and rather unimpressive performances of overseas futures set the trend of the day.
Futures gain
The rubber futures turned better on NMCE. A recovery in TOCOM after a weak opening initiated some buying here but the volumes till noon were low at 340 tonnes as traders were not so optimistic to take fresh positions. The October contract was quoted at Rs 78.05 (Rs 77.32), November at Rs 77 (Rs 76.53), December at Rs 77.50 (Rs 77.25) and January contract at Rs 79.80 (Rs 79) per kg for RSS 4. The October futures for RSS 3 improved to 202.6 Yen (Rs 79.30) from 201.4 Yen a kg at TOCOM. The grade fell sharply to Rs 84.18 from Rs 89.03 a kg at Bangkok. Spot rubber rates per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 80 (Rs 81); RSS-5: Rs 79 (Rs 79); ungraded: Rs 76 (Rs 76); ISNR 20: Rs 78 (Rs 78.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 62.10 (Rs 62.10).
