Cabinet nod for India-Indonesia MoU

New Delhi, Sept. 21

The Union Cabinet gave its approval on Thursday to the memorandum of understanding signed between India and Indonesia for cooperation in the field of marine and fisheries. The agreement was signed by the two countries in November last year. The MoU seeks cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as aquaculture development, exchange of information and data, education and training and coastal fisheries management. The MoU has come into force on the date of its signing and would remain valid for a period of five years and would be renewed automatically for another five years unless either party terminates it, a Government spokesperson said.

In another decision, the Cabinet gave its nod for reconstitution of Law Commission for a term of three years from September 1, 2006 to August 31, 2009. The Commission would comprise of a chairman, three full time members, one member secretary, and three or more part-time members depending upon the nature of the topics.
