Hyderabad , Sept. 22

Agro Tech Foods Ltd has joined hands with SACH (Save A Child's Heart), an NGO promoted by the Apollo Hospitals group, to offer financial support to children suffering from heart problems.

The company would donate a rupee on every litre of its Sundrop Heart oil it sells till November 30, Mr Atul Sinha, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) of Agro Tech Foods, said.

The company expected to donate Rs 10 lakh at the end of the campaign that it took up every year to spread awareness on cardiovascular diseases.

The association with SACH would mark the World Health Day celebrated on September 24.

Apart from this campaign, the company interacted with about 3,000 doctors in various parts of the country on issues related to cardiovascular diseases and took part in workshops.

Dr Samba Murthy, Medical Director of SACH, told Business Line, that the enormity of the problem called for a concerted effort. "Two lakh children are born every year in India with heart diseases. One-tenth of these births take place in Andhra Pradesh," he said.

If left untreated, 25 per cent of them would die in the first month and 50 per cent in the first year itself.
