`CFOs need to partner with CEOs'

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 22

Speakers at the CFO Forum of Confederation of Indian Industry have said that chief financial officers needed to partner with CEOs to help shape corporate strategy, while being independent.

"The regulators expect him (CFO) to be independent. He should be a man of integrity. He, in fact, is the conscience of the corporation and focal point for corporate governance," Mr Ramakrishnan P., Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), said.

Talking on corporate governance and the role of CFO in an organisation, he said the CFOs were supposed to take fact-based decisions.

Mr M.K. Patodia, former Chairman of CII (AP) and Managing Director of GTN Industries Ltd, said the CFO should pass the financial integrity test. Besides being an agent of change, he should communicate in a credible and clear fashion.
