New Projects Kajaria to double capacity at Bhiwadi plant Deepak Goel

New Delhi , Sept. 23 Kajaria Ceramics is making an investment of Rs 123 crore to double its existing manufacturing capacity at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan to take it to 16.7 million sq m from the current 8.3 million sq m per annum. "The market for tiles is growing at significant pace and the additional capacity will help us cater to the rising demand of our products," said Mr Ashok Kajaria, Managing Director, Kajaria Ceramics Ltd.
To raise output
Together with the other manufacturing facility of the company at Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh (9.7 million sq m), the total capacity of the company would reach 26.4 million sq m per annum. Additional production will commence at Bhiwadi towards the end of the month. The company is also planning to set up manufacturing capability of high-end ceramic tiles in the future.

"By the end of next year, we will also manufacture high end ceramic tiles in the country, which we are currently importing for the domestic market," said Mr Kajaria. The company also plans to set in place a more dealership network by having 1,000 dealers in the country by March 2008 from the current 600 dealers. Besides dealers, the company also has 18 exclusive stores owned by the company. The tile industry in the country is an estimated 350 million sq m market in volume terms, growing at an annual rate of 15 per cent. Kajaria's turnover stood at Rs 351 crore last fiscal. This included the sales of imported vitrified tiles of Rs 50 crore. The company expects the sales to grow from Rs 351 crore to around Rs 470 crore in the current financial year.
