The State Minister for Fisheries and Harbour Engineering, Mr S. Sarma, has said that the State Government will extend all possible help for the development of Kochi Port.

Addressing the 109th annual session of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry here, the Minister said that the Government was also trying to get tax exemption for the proposed LNG Terminal coming up within the port waters.

Mr Balagopala B. Pai, President of the Chamber, said that the State Government should give increased attention and support for the overall development of the port.

He also called upon the Minister to give special attention to resolve the issue connected with the Vallarpadam project like an early decision on the alignment to the rail connectivity to the proposed site.

Mr V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, MLA, offered felicitations. The Minister also distributed the ICCI Export Awards and Memento to the outgoing President Mr Balagopala B. Pai in recognition of his services rendered to the business community as President for 2005-2006.
