Mangalore, Sept. 25

Extensive use of existing infrastructure in education and investment in higher education are the prerequisite to make India a developed nation by 2020, according to Mr B.R. Bhat, General Manager, Corporation Bank. Inaugurating `Magma 2006' - a national-level inter-collegiate management festival, organised by Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, in Mangalore on Monday, Mr Bhat said there are 345 universities and 10,000 colleges in the country. However, none of them figures in the top 250 in the world. In such a situation, investment in higher education will help make the country a developed nation by 2020. This is also the dream of the President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said.
