SIGNIFICANT SHARE: A worker tending to a cabbage farm at Yellapatti near Munnar, Kerala. India ranks second in cabbage production in the world. Though more than 70 types of vegetables are grown in the country, emphasis is being given to winter vegetables such as cabbage, which is favoured in the menu of multi-star hotels and restaurants.

Among winter vegetables, the share of cabbage in the country's total vegetable production is 6.4 per cent.
