Technical textiles meet in Mumbai
Our Bureau
Mumbai, Sept. 26
From a development perspective, with conventional textiles having reached a near-saturation level, technical textiles have been identified as having the most potential for upgradation in the country's textiles industry. This is because developments of new fibres and new technologies have created scope for newer application areas for textile material.
With a view to exploring the enormous perceived potential of technical textiles, the western regional council of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in association with SASMIRA (Silk and Art Silk Mills Research Association), is organising a "Technical Textiles 2006" conference in Mumbai on September 28. Technical textiles can cater to the specific needs of a host of economic activities and industries including agriculture, construction, healthcare, transportation, packaging and sports.
With economic activity in the country accelerating, the demand for technical textiles is bound rise manifold. Technology experts, policymakers, regulatory officials, industry leaders and several associated others are expected to participate in the conference.
