On September 26, some landowners who handed over their land to the State Government received their compensation cheques.
Kolkata , Sept. 26 Even as the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamul Congress continues with its agitation against acquisition of agricultural land at Singur for the Tatas' small car project, the West Bengal Government has said that the land will be handed over to the Tatas after the Puja festival. Dr Sabyasachi Sen, West Bengal's Principal Secretary in-charge-of Commerce & Industries, said that since the land had been acquired in the name of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, mutation and conversion of the acquired land would have to be done first before it could be handed over to the Tatas.
