Bureau Veritas repositions certification services biz

Our Bureau

The certification business has so far been operating under the name of Bureau Veritas Quality International.

Kolkata , Sept. 27

Bureau Veritas, counted among the global players in QHSE-SA Management Services (Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Social Accountability), is consolidating its global operations through a worldwide "branding migration" exercise, which took off simultaneously in 140 countries recently, where the company is present.

The 1.6-billion company is re-positioning its Systems Certification Services business by renaming it as "Bureau Veritas Certification." There will also be a logo change. This certification business, representing one of the main activities of the group, has so far been operating under the name of BVQI (Bureau Veritas Quality International). It is clarified that the organisation remains unchanged, and "the clients of Bureau Veritas Certification in India retain the same contact persons and will enjoy the same level of service." It is learnt that companies and organisations already certified by BVQI can implement the change gradually, in terms of using the new logo, as they create or update their various communication tools (letterheads and commercial paperwork, Web sites, signs etc).

Founded in 1828, Bureau Veritas is an international group whose core business is conformity assessment applied in the fields of quality, health and safety. The company has 700 offices worldwide, employs 24,000 persons and serves over 2.80 lakh clients.

According to Dr Richard Kaszuba, CEO of Bureau Veritas in India, "this step will bring about synergy in the quality, health, safety, environment, social accountability and information security services of the organisation for all sectors of industry as well as the services sector."

In India, Bureau Veritas delivered its first ISO 9000 certificate to Sundaram Fasteners Ltd, marking its entry into the certification business in the country.

The company's client base in India, with Indian headquarters in Mumbai, cuts across different industry sectors including engineering, electrical, automotive, electronics, metallurgical, chemicals, petrochemicals, aerospace and power.
