A SCENE AT the Vintage Car Rally in Hyderabad on Wednesday. - K. Ramesh Babu

Hyderabad , Sept. 27

For a while forget the 2006 model Chevy range, Verna and Ford Fiesta, and train your attention on the Vintage 1926 Austin, 1930 Ford, with its owners attired in period clothing. This is nothing but a visual delight that car-lovers were treated to at the Vintage and Classic Car and Bike show here on Wednesday.

The Tourism Department of Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with Deccan Heritage Automobile Association, hosted this event coinciding with the World Tourism Day.

The chrome embellishments, paint and period design was nothing but sheer ecstasy, reminding car-lovers of their transformation into the modern-day mean machines.

Set against the picturesque Hussainsagar Lake at the Lumbini Park, the event had a fair share of bikes of the yesteryears - Nortons, BSAs, Triumphs et al.

The Austin Mini Cooper acquired from Shahzadi Pasha, the Nizam's daughter, stole the limelight. A 1926 Red gleaming Austin 6 with a wooden floorboard and spring shocks and Ford A, a 1930 convertible, dominated the show.
