Rail production units exceed targets

New Delhi , Sept. 27

All the productions units of the Railways, including the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Rail Wheel Factory, have exceeded their production targets during April-August this year. ICF produced 449 coaches during the period April-August 2006 exceeding the target by eight coaches while Rail Wheel Factory produced 57,713 wheels and 22,066 axles during April-August 2006 compared with the target of 55,522 wheels and 21,774 axles, said an official release.

Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Diesel Locomotive Works and Rail Coach Factory produced 48 electric locos, 77 locos and 525 coaches respectively equalling their targets, it added. The ordinary working expenses during the same period have come down to Rs 14,108.92 crore compared with the budget provision of Rs 14,417.97 crore.
