OBC: Counting on operating costs

Nilanjan Dey

Oriental Bank of Commerce, analysts indicate, has lower operating costs compared to some of the other public-sector banks, a factor that is being seen to play a role in the days ahead. Low operating costs are believed to be providing room for future earnings growth.

The bank's operating expenses to average working funds was relatively lower, at about 1.8, in fiscal 2006.

On Thursday, the OBC stock closed at Rs 277.30 on the BSE, a 7-per cent increase.
